Beanie/ Toboggan History and How to Wear

The beanie. A classic piece of material to cover our heads with for whenever we didn't have the time to do our hair or just couldn't be bothered. It's a simple piece of cloth, and yet it makes such a big impact because of the way it frame sour face and helps elevate our features. And yet, we don't know much about the beanie origins, so let us help you figure those out.

WHAT WAS THE IDEA BEHIND THE BEANIE?

It all came from the 1900s. It was basically the time when men were working 10-hour long shifts outside and were being exposed to both really high and really low temperatures. In addition to that, the beanies were also used as a means to protect one's hair form the grime and dirt from working outside everyday.

WHERE DID THE NAME BEANIE COME FROM?

The name "Beanie" originated from street slang. Back in the time when the beanie was invented, the typical word you'd use for it was "bean" that people used to refer to the head with. And, well, some thought that the bean bears a close resemblance to the shape of the head, hence the name.

HOW DO YOU EVEN WEAR A BEANIE?

That entirely depends on the type of beanie you are wearing. There is the fisherman beanie, the robin hood beanie, the slouchy beanie, the high-top beanie, the single-cuff beanie and finally - the standard beanie. Depending on where exactly it falls around your face, you'd want to style your hair one way or another.  Mos toften than not though, wearing a beanie is more a question for those of us who have long hair.

This toboggan invention is easy to wear with your:

- Hair let down

- Hair curled to soft beach waves

- Hair tied up in a pony to expose the whole neck

- Hair braided behind the neck

It's also a good idea to straighten short hair, apply some gel to properly frame your face. And also - make sure to choose the right beanie for your face type!

And if you are wondering if there are any good universal ones, you can take a look at our Cloud Beanie . It's made with eco-friendly sustainable fabrics and is a great addition to just about any outfit.
